Why Do We Love Watching Short Films?

People have been watching shorts since before the digital revolution sprang into being. So it can’t be just because shorts fit into our busy schedules. No, the short film is an art form all its own. There is a beauty to telling a story in a limited amount of time, stripping out the less important elements in favor of only what is needed to ignite the viewer's imagination.

EDGE (ACTION THRILLER, 11:59)

When two professional assassins meet to settle an old score in a neighborhood greasy spoon, it's time to ask for the check.

48 HOUR FILM PROJECT

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which a small team of adventurous and creative individuals meets to make a movie - write, shoot, and edit - in just 48 hours. On Friday night, the teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and specific line that must appear in their films. On Sunday night, in a mad dash to the drop-off event, the film is turned in - and teams celebrate! Each film is then screened for an audience of families, friends and industry professionals. It's madness with a method.

It's 1969. The world is changing. For the first time, a man is landing on the moon. But when a black man and a white woman fall in love, they experience how painful change can be.

PERFECT PITCH (MUSICAL, 8:01)

When Harvey, an aspiring cartoonist pitches his best idea to the girl of his dreams, he's overheard by an unscrupulous colleague (played by Richard Satterwhite) who hatches a plan to steal Harvey's concept and destroy the competition. Winner of the Best Directing, Best Acting, Best Editing and Audience Favorite Awards.

FLYING MONKEYS (FAMILY COMEDY, 8:11)

Single mom Amanda is in a race against time to pick up her daughter Ruby before she's whisked off to Rome for the summer by her wicked Step-Mom. If Amanda's late one more time, she lose custody of Ruby for good! To get there in time, Amanda will need the help of an eclectic bunch of eccentric friends. Winner: Best Use of Line, Audience Favorite Day 1 and Overall Audience Favorite Awards.

GRAVEYARD SHIFT (SUSPENSE, 7:37)

It's Mark Kowalski's first night on the job as a security guard. Easy. Just sit at your station, make your rounds and call in if you see anything... strange. What could go wrong? Winner: Best Directing and Best Cinematography.
